First established in 1845 Embrun, Ontario has become a suburb of Ottawa yet has still been able to hold onto its rural charm that the city's founders originally envisioned. Currently 60% of the town speaks French as their everyday language, it known for its neighborly small town atmosphere and it has many different activities for the residents to enjoy on a regular basis. To this day the city is known for its dairy, sheep and agricultural industries however, over the last several years the popularity of the close proximity to Ottawa as well as its quant lifestyle has drawn many city dwellers that are seeking a change of pace yet still work with in Ottawa itself.
Since 1980 the population of the community has doubled every 25 years. While there is nothing wrong with this the fact of the matter is that Embrun is like most Canadian towns meaning that it has not been immune from the economic slow down or Embrun real estate implosion which has taken place. That being said the city is now looking like an attractive opportunity for those who are seeking that country lifestyle yet still want to be able to maintain that closeness to Ottawa that they have become so use to.
